Why we are here
We are here to provide a safe and welcoming place to ask out loud the questions we have been asking quietly in our various congregations. Often we have tried to explore our concerns and been discouraged or made to feel like heretics because our questions call for a deeper examination of what we have been taught over years about what we are supposed to believe.
What we usually do
Coffee is on by 10:15 (Attire is informal)
We celebrate Communion(Mass, Holy Eucharist) around 10:30.
Then we read from various books which may help to open discussion of our questions we have struggled with over the years. No question is off limits. However, we do not provide definitive answers because we find, in the journey, there are no definite answers, only questions.
We invite people to grow spiritually, realizing that every journey in faith is unique so we welcome that uniqueness in community. We strive to open our spiritual perceptions and develop ways of perceiving and connecting with the Holy in ways that make more sense to our 21st century experience.
We are currently sharing and discussing a book by Amit Goswami called The Self-Aware Universe.
Over the years we have shared and discussed a variety of literature, following the admonition of a prayer in the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer: "Read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest."
I will provide an annotated list of books we have shared to give you an idea of our journey. Don't feel you would be out of place. We recently had amongst our group an agnostic (someone who says they don't know, a non-denominational worshiper, a Jew, and a devout Catholic. What a lively discussion we had that day!
All are welcome: believers, doubters, atheists, persons of any religion or none at all.
Come and see.
